7 Reasons I Do Not Get Mad

  1. “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds” – James 1:2
It goes on to talk about perseverance. And in another book about hope. Regardless though we are to consider it pure joy.
  2. “Yet learned he obedience through that which he suffered” – Hebrews 5:8
Handling suffering properly develops our obedience to God.
  3. “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” – Romans 8:18
There is, indeed, glory to be rewarded to us and in us in time to come. Surely in heaven if not later on earth.
  4. “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Always. In all situations. Give thanks regardless. Feeling mad or depressed? It doesn’t matter. Give thanks.
  5. An Eye for an Eye “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.” – Matthew 5:38-42
Demonstrate love through this; do not return an eye for an eye.
  6. “But i tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” – Matthew 5:44
Christ’s demonstration of this has powerfully touched me. After betrayal, desertion and so much suffering and injustice, even in the pain of crucifixion “Jesus said, ‘Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing.’” Luke 23:34
  7. “If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?” – Matthew 5:46
We are called to give more than a natural, instinctive, responsive love that gives only when it receives.

    hmm…
i dunno… k. i interpret the “eye for an eye” verses as repaying evil with evil type thing… “revenge”ish…

but is anger revenge?.. is frustration a method of retalliation?… even Jesus got angry sometimes right?…

mm.. not saying you’re wrong.. these are jsut my thoughts.

You are quite right, the verse does mean paying evil with evil. However, anger or frustration are not as righteous as we think. If we look at Jesus as an example, he never got angry because of himself. He only got angry when the Father’s name is being trashed. Anger and Frustration are not sin in itself, but it does not mean that we are the right reaction to have when someone wrong us. Our emotion is something that we can control. In Ephesians 4:26, “Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry” proves that anger is something that is under our control. Therefore, Bily is right is listing that as one of the reason for him not to get mad.
